Q. How Much does it cost?
Approximately $40-$45 a square foot including installation, but not including decking. Over the life of your SigmaDek there is NO maintenance, clean it and it's like new again. Wood substructure decks require sanding, staining, and replacement, and will rot, crack warp and succumb to other environmental factors, SigmaDek will not, so which is less expensive?
Return to topWhere Can I See a SigmaDek?
Through our "Citizen Showroom" program. The Citizen showroom is our customers who have had a SigmaDek installed and have prospective SigmaDek customers come to their house to see their deck. If you like the deck as much as them and purchase one, they get a cash reward. Then you too can be a resident of the citizen showroom!
Return to topWhen can I get a SigmaDek?
Our products are arriving in May and will start to be installed by June.
Return to topDoes SigmaDek come in other colors?
Black and white will be available.
Return to topCan I install SigmaDek myself?
SigmaDek requires certified installers to maintain the lifetime warranty, and insure it is assembled correctly.
Return to topCan I take the training and Install the Product then?
Yes, the certification training costs $150, and lasts for 2 ½ days in Calgary, and Claresholm. Provided you take this training and become certified then, yes, you can install your own SigmaDek.
Return to topCan I put a solid Surface on SigmaDek?
Yes you can! Our system allows for plywood coverings to be applied which could then be made water tight by many different means. You cannot however use any chemically treated (ACQ, CCA, or PWF) plywood.
Return to topIs there a Gate for SigmaDek?
We are currently working on a gate system that will be available very soon, which can be retrofitted onto an existing SigmaDek.
Return to topCan I have a Cut Corner on my SigmaDek?
As SigmaDek is only available in Square and Rectangular shapes this is not possible..
Return to topHow do I become an installer?
In order to insure our product is installed in a consistent and regulated way to preserve the lifetime warranty, all installers must be certified by SigmaDek. Certified training is 2 ½ days in length in Calgary, AB for Day 1 (Product knowledge), and Claresholm, AB for the remainder (Hands on Training), there is a $150 fee for this training. Click here to become an Certified Installer.
Return to topWhere is the product made? Is this product made in Canada?
SigmaDek's components are produced by the world's largest aluminum extruder; Sapa profiles. In order to meet demand Sapa operates 97 presses (4 in Canada) in 15 countries, and is a leader in innovation in producing aluminum products.
Return to topAre there any Builders using the product presently?
There are currently a few forward thinking builders who are partners with SigmaDek. Ask you builder if they are SigmaDek partners!
Return to topHow green (environmentally sound) is this product?
SigmaDek is produced entirely out of aluminum, so it is forest friendly, as there is no need to harvest trees at any point of its manufacture.
Return to topIs glass railing available?
No, our railing is an all-aluminum picket and rail system. We are developing this but will not be available in the near future.
Return to topIf I buy a large order is there a discount?
SigmaDek is produced and sold with the highest degree of integrity. We offer all of the components at the same rate no matter where the deck is to be installed to insure our pricing is fair and consistent. As we do not over-inflate fastener or other component prices, we do not have the capacity to reduce the price. You get what you pay for with SigmaDek.
Return to topCan the decking be installed at an angle on SigmaDek?
No, SigmaDek's decking clip system ensures the decking (grooved edge or square edge) is held tight against the ledger board to eliminate any potential for movement. In order to accomplish this in the strongest possible way, the decking needs to be perpendicular to the joists, and parallel to the beam.
Return to topCan I install my own "Patio-In-A-Box"?
Absolutely, it can be purchased at Costco.com, or contact us for pricing and availability. After you purchase a deck you have a free morning, then you'll be enjoying your patio by lunch!
Return to topCan I buy my own deck boards for the "Patio-In-A-Box"?
Patio-In-A-Box does NOT come with decking from SigmaDek, so ABSOLUTELY! Our recommendation for the most maintenance free option is to go with a composite or other low maintenance option. You cannot use chemically treated lumber on our system.
Return to topHow much does a Patio-In-A-Box cost to install?
The cost to install a Patio in a box is $1000 in Calgary in level applications, meaning a flat area with no other site preparation needed.
Return to topCan I Buy the Stair System separately?
Star Building Supplies carries the Lifelong stair system to mount it to an existing deck. With its quick and easy snap together design, your stairs will give you no problems installing, or for as long as you own them!
Return to topDo I need a certified installer to put up my Lifelong stairs?
No, the system is machined so precisely, that installing them literally is a snap!
Return to topWhy do you need an engineered stamp on each job?
SigmaDek gains an engineer's stamp on EVERY one of our decks to aid in the installation process. Our product is brand new, and even though it has been tested and retested to 2 ½ times the building code requirement, and is covered by a lifetime warranty, we want you to be sure you are getting the highest standard in fully engineered "Dek technology"!
